What is hazardous waste?
It is a type of waste that is dangerous to people, animals or the environment. Examples include:
- Chemical wastes
- Healthcare wastes
- Electrical or electronic equipment containing hazardous components such as cathode ray tubes
- Lead-acid batteries
Who needs to be registered?
All types of premises that produce more than 500kg of hazardous waste per year.
If a premises produces less than 500kg per year then they are exempt from registration
