The Valpak recycle-more Awards: Design for a Better Environment
Valpak recycle-more joined with the Royal College of Art (RCA) to sponsor two awards focused on eco-design and communication. Students started work for the awards in 2007 and the entries were showcased
in front of industry leaders where the final judging took place on the 5th June 2008, to celebrate World Environment Day.
We were very impressed by the final design concepts and can now reveal the
winners for each category. The winning students will each receive an award, which will be presented at the Valpak Awards ceremony in September 2008 at the National Maritime Museum.

Award 2: "Shrinking Footprints"
Addressing the impact of insatiable demand through eco-design
Eco-efficient design and environmentally sensitive manufacturing processes can help reduce the impact of society's dependence on carbon and packaging. This award looks to encourage innovation (in the fields of product, vehicle and service design) that recognises and addresses the need to reduce unsustainable waste production and move the UK to a more efficient and low carbon economy.
The point of this award is to reduce, through design, society's carbon dependence.
And the winner is...
Jorge Roberto Lopes dos Santos and Emilia Serra were awarded 1st prize with a design for a water fountain that
encourages the refilling of small plastic bottles.
