recycled sculpture show 2008

The Recycled Sculpture Show 2008 was launched simultaneously with Love London on May 29th. The sculptures will be on display until the 5th September 2008, it aims to connect with people of all ages through the innovation and artistic transformation of waste.

recycle-more is extremely proud to be involved with this event by sponsoring the show's guide. The show features exhibits by twenty talented sculptors from around the UK, Canada, Norway and Serbia, who have utilised everyday waste materials interpreting issues of species conservation and protection of natural habitats. The collection aims to inspire us to think again about our own individual impacts on the Earth.

Recycled glass penguins created by the Show's curator Anthony Wilson wander unnatural landscapes, polar bears by Tone Holmen highlights impacts of global warming and the menace of waste plastic bags, whilst the threatening TYRErannosaurus looms overhead tyre-lessly.

Sustainability Manager at ZSL London Zoo, Sophie Townsend said:

"The sculptures really provoke debate about human waste and its effect on the natural world. There is no better setting for this than surrounded by some of the most endangered creatures on Earth - many of which are close to extinction because of man's insatiable lust for fresh resources."

What an adventure!, but you don't have to take our word for it when we say 'the exhibit is larger than life', please come along and see for yourselves, everyone's welcome! After all the planet belongs to all of us, along with the responsibility of looking after it.
