Open Letters
Students from accross 15 different European countries and Canada were involved in the YEP 2005/06. They worked together to write Open Letters which were based on class projects developed by the students. The letters aimed to discover and understand the environment, based on a global approach that takes account of the three pillars of sustainable development (economy, ecology and social life.)
The letters were written to key environmental figures. Recipients fell into one of the following target groups:
- Producers (industry, agriculture, craftsman etc)
- Journalists
- NGO's
- Educators
- Researchers
- International organisations (UNO, UNESCO etc)
- National Authorities
The Open Letters were presented to the recipients in a formal ceremony in Paris 2006. The students questioned each of the group representatives about their involvement and responsibility to the environment.
