valpak helps to make battery recycling easy
Back in 2007 WRAP set up a number of
partnerships with a range of Local Authorities to run battery
collection and recycling services. However battery recycling
requires the payment of a large gate fee and funding shortfalls
meant that the trials were due to stop in mid 2008.
Conscious of the need to maintain the
momentum and promote public awareness in the need to recycle
portable batteries Valpak took on full responsibility for all of
the WRAP trials.
With producer responsibility for battery
recovery due to take effect in 2010 we'd now like to expand
these collections for other interested Local Authorities. If
you want to collect waste portable batteries at kerbside or
bring sites then Valpak are willing to offer:
- free collection from bulked
points
- free containers for CA sites
and potentially for other sites
- free recycling
If you would like to discuss the potential for
free of charge recycling with Valpak please email Nigel
Tomlinson at
info@valpak.co.uk or alternatively ring him on
07972 920 589.
