Recycling in The Czech Republic

Hi my name is Mirka and I am from the Czech Republic, where we have a special recycling banks in every street so people can recycle it at any time and dont need to wait for collection once per week (how ennoying to keep waiting for recycling day and than you are on holiday or forget and you have to wait another week!). Also no boxes needs to be provided by council. It is better organised and also people have been recycling for longer than here in UK. I was really shocked that such diveloped country as UK isn't much more green friendly.

Yes the UK is behind other countries, but it has accomplished a lot in a small amount of time.

In England household recycling rates increased from 7.5 per cent in 1996/97 to 30.9 per cent in 2006/07. Improving recycling facilities takes time and money, hopefully the situation will get better and we'll reach the 40% recycling targets that have been set.

We have so much freedom that we just argue about it and it doesn't happen. Governments and Councils are scared of making themselves unpopular.
